Tannor's Favorite Rocket

My next endeavor in scratch building came out pretty nice.  My 4yr old is a big Spiderman fan and wanted a Spiderman rocket so this is the result.

2.6" Diameter, 52" in length, and 17 ounces completely empty, 29mm motor mount.

Nose cone is from an AT Initiator, body tube, motor tube, and centering rings from ASP, and fins from BSD High Power Rocketry.

Paint job was done by me, everything is painted on except for the word Spiderman, which is a graphic I found and printed off, then used 3m 77 Spray adhesive to put it on.

Close up of the paint job

Here's a close-up of the webbing and spider I painted on with a paint pen.

First flights should be the weekend of June 13, 2003.  Considering AT F20's, F40's and G64's, we'll see.

Spiderman 1 on liftoff with G64

4 Flights on this one in one weekend at an organized launch, a bit of a crowd pleaser and it flew great on F20, G33, and two flights on G64's were great.

Last flight hung up on the rod a bit causing an arched flight and high speed deployment, repairable damage but it's been retired to hang in Tannor's room.

However a second has been built now along with another identical rocket in a Green Goblin paint scheme. These were both lengthened by 2 inches to allow a little more room in the payload section for altimeters if I get around to that.

Here's the new ones. Looks like a drag race waiting to happen doesn't it.

Spiderman and Green Goblin Rockets

Spiderman II got it's maiden flight up in October 2003 on an AT G64-7, this rocket loves this load, again another high flight and quick boost, nice recovery too.
