See Shugo's webpage at www.firehouseakitas.com

Shugo is pictured above at 7.5 months at his first show. It was a first show for both him and Dionne and yet they went on to take it for a 3 point major out of the puppy class. Emporia, KS 5-8-04.
Shugo was exclusively owner handled to his Championship at 16 months of age, February 2005. Some Shugo snapshots and information are below.

Shugo is coming along nicely.

Emporia Ks, May 2004.
Shugo is an Akita which is a dog of Japanese origin, originally bred in the high mountains of Japan and very much a "northern" dog with a dense under coat and longer outer coat. They are a very nice one family dog but not very tolerant of other dogs so some care needs to be taken.
We got Shugo last fall for a family pet, but he was from fine lines and after many others in the show business saw him, and told us how nice he was we decided to give the show ring a try.
We wanted a breed that we could count on to be protective of the family, and one that wouldn't slink away if a real intruder were to come into the house. I think we found that with this breed, Akitas are truly and incredible breed, this coming from the owner of two Rottweilers, LOL
Dionne's done most of the work and training with Shugo and he's come along nicely, his first show out as mentioned above he took for a 4 point major which in the dog world is a pretty big deal, especially when both he and Dionne were novices to the ring.
Shugo has become a loved member of the family and helps me to sleep better being away from home long hours at work, thanks Shugo.
So another new hobby for our weekends, Shugo will be showing often in the midwest this summer and I'll post results here.

Again, and older puppy and more spoiled, we must have our own pillow to lay down now. :-) |

This stuff is tasty and ohhh so nice and cold. :-)

That thing back there is always following me around.

All right who's got the clicker, I don't like this show. (Shugo watching TV)

After mom showed me how to do this it's kind of fun, but this is MY water fountain so back off!!! Mmmmm
