Estes Orbital Transport

This is a re-release of the popular Estes Orbital Transport. A bit more complicated than some of the other Estes rockets out today.

The rocket boosts up with the glider piggy backed onto it, then at apogee the ejection charge fires and the rocket comes apart and recovers under a parachute.  The glider then releases and glides back down to the ground.

A fun kit to fly and a challenging build.

Construction picture of Orbital Transport

These pictures show some of the construction detail before the paint. Here is the lower section of the rocket booster and the glider. Each piece of fin is cut out of balsa by hand using the provided templates, instead of the usual coming with diecut fin pieces.

The booster and the glider are then assembled using the hand cut balsa pieces.
