Thor's annual FOTF launch. Unfortunately we were unable to make it Fri or Sat and had to settle for Sunday. The weather was clear but the wind put a hamper on some of the flying by afternoon.
First up for us in the morning was our BSD Sprint. The wind was up a little bit so we didn't want to send it too far up there so we opted for an AT H165 Redline for the flight. Got her prepped with a 36" nylon chute and out to the pad.
On the pad and ready to go, meesha was ready with the camcorder.
Lifting off with the redline motor.
On it's way up to a nice flight. Deployed the 36" chute fine and came back down for a nice landing fairly close to the pads. (photo Richard Burney)
Tannor picked our next flight for the day choosing the Estes Flash.
Here's the Flash lifting off on a B6-4 for a nice flight and came down nicely on the Estes 12" plastic chute with a spill hole.
Next flight up was Richard Burney's Amraam seen above waiting to go.
And it's off for a nice flight, but then aren't Amraam flights always nice.. ?
The wind was coming up pretty good by now and we slowed down on our flights and choose to watch for a while and captured these pictures.
Thomas Kernes got this scratchbuilt up for a nice flight, here she is lifting off.
And now clearly on it's way for a nice flight and recovery.
Now this was a nice scratch built on the pad, I believe it was only about 2.1" or maybe 2.6" in diameter and done up in a U.S. Mail paint scheme with postal address stickers and the such. It had gone up Saturday on an H238 for a neck snapping flight. Today he decided to try it again.
And here she is going up again on an H238 for a nice flight, well at least I think it was the camera captured alot more than I could with my eye, that thing moved out quick.
Next up was Matt with his V2 going up on a CTI K motor, here it is clearing the rail.
And here it is on it's way up to a nice flight. The Rocketman R18 had a little trouble deploying in the wind, seemed like it was trying to but the wind was just right that it was hitting it and trying to push the chute in on itself. The chute ended up winning and slowing descent down enough to provide a damage free landing.
By this time we were ready to get something else up. I had planned on flying my Binder Jaguar on an AT I154 Black Jack and started prepping that. After the dual deploy system and RRC2 were all setup it was still pretty windy and I had second thoughts about sending it up to over 3,000'. So we decided to go with an H180 instead.
Built the motor and put her out on the pad.
Here she is lifting off on the H180 for a nice flight, dual deploy worked fine deploying the drogue at apogee and the main at 500'. Obtained an altitude of 1,381' per the RRC2.
Kevin put this scratchbuilt fiberglass rocket up on a Smokey Sam motor for a nice flight.
This unknown rocket went up on an AT hybrid motor for a very nice flight, here it is lifting off.
And here in flight.....
Here's a nice AT Arcas lifting off on one of the new AT G redline motors.. A G77 I believe for a nice flight.
And the last picture we got for the day was Matt's V2 going up again, this time with a CTI L730 for another nice flight.
Again if you would like copies of pictures of your rockets just let me know, most of these have been edited to fit better so I may have a better quality picture I can send you, but not always.
Also any more details on any of the flights are welcome and the details will be added when I receive them.
Thanks
