Above our high power birds, Level 3 Upscale 6" BSD Thor in the front.

Left to right in the back are the BSD 4" Thor, PML 4" Amraam, BSD 4" Horizon (stretched), BSD 4" Horizon stock with Dale Jr. paint scheme, BSD 3" Horizon, BSD 3" Sprint, Scratch built Mach1, BSD 3" 38 Special, BSD 3" Diablo, Binder Design Jaguar 2.6" Scratch Spiderman and Goblin 2.6".

Below is some basic information about High Power rocketry.

To purchase high power rocket motors you must be 18yrs of age or older and certified by either the Tripoli Rocketry Organization or the National Association of Rocketry.

High Power rocketry encompasses 3 different certification levels. Level one includes motors in the H and I classes.  Level two includes motors in the J, K, and L classes. Level 3 includes motors in the M, N, O, and above classes.

In low power rocketry the A motor is the basic beginner motor, if you flew low power rockets in science class or in Cub Scouts you've probably flown A motors. Just to give you an idea of the power of high power motors look at the following.

H motor=128 A motors in impulse

I motor=256 A motors in impulse

J motor=512 A motors in impulse

K motor=1,024 A motors in impulse

L motor=2,048 A motors in impulse

M motor=4,096 A motors in impulse

N motor=8,192 A motors in impulse

O motor=16,384 A motors in impulse

As you may guess a high power rocketry requires a little bit stronger building techniques than those used in low or even mid power. Fins are almost always mounted through the body wall to the motor tube. Regular glues are replaced with multi part epoxies. Motor mounts are much beefier and no longer centered with paper centering rings, plywood is the centering ring of choice for most. Fins are no longer balsa or plastic, again hobby grade plywood is used most often.

Reloadable motors also come into play now. To learn more about reloadable motors go to the AeroTech website.

By April of 2003 we decided to move into some High Power kits. After allot of research BSD High Power Rocketry was our choice, great looking rockets, and very reliable and sturdy, we are impressed.

BSD kits are known for exceptional quality instructions and extremely nice vinyl decals that really help to make the rockets look great.

Our High Power rockets are linked below.

We've found another high power brand that we like. PML or Public Missiles Limited is another very respected rocket kit manufacturer. They make a variety of sport and high altitude flying rockets as well as many scale version kits of actual rockets or missiles.

We've also built one Binder Design kit and one Cosmodrome kit, both very nice as well.

Other Rockets

Binder Design Jaguar

Pml 4" Amraam

Cosmodrome Black Brandt II

Performance Rocketry Comp 4

AKA SLR Shugo's Last Ride

Also several of our Scratch Built rockets are high power capable too.
